If you’ve checked our specials this month, you would have noticed that our IPL treatments, Microderm facial & Anti-Aging Peel are discounted during January.
But, what’s the difference between these treatments, and how do you know which one is right for you? Here’s the lowdown:
IPL Photo Rejuvenation
The IPL Photofacial is a 30-60 minute procedure (depending on the area) where intense pulses of light are used to penetrate into the skin deeply, which then causes collagen and blood vessels below the skin to constrict. This reduces redness and age lines.
There may be some redness and swelling immediately following this treatment, but they disappear shortly and the benefits of IPL will begin to occur gradually in the weeks following treatment.
This treatment visibly improves skin pigmentation, age spots, sun damage, broken capillaries, rosacea and overall skin appearance. You will need to stay out of the sun following this treatment, so we do recommend scheduling this procedure during the winter, and always using sunscreen follow the treatment. Because this is a laser treatment, the procedure is performed by a registered nurse or nurse practitioner that is on our staff.
Our Microderm facial is a non-chemical, non-invasive treatment that softens fine lines and wrinkles, helps smooth rough skin texture and fine lines, decreases pore size and the appearance of scarring, and reduces hyper-pigmentation.
The procedure removes the uppermost layer of dead skin cells and debris by way of exfoliation, and usually takes about 30 minutes with no down-time for skin recovery. We use specialized professional-grade equipment that removes the dead skin cells, and clogged pores are lifted from the pore openings. This debris is then vacuumed off your skin, and a clean, fresh and bright complexion is revealed.
Because the outermost layer of skin has been removed, it’s essential that sun protection be used following this procedure. This treatment is not recommended for skin conditions like rosacea, sensitive skin or those who have had Botox within 72 hours.
Our formulation is an advanced, medical-grade chemical peel, that involves a three-step procedure to optimize results and manage downtime. The process removes the damaged outer layers of the skin through exfoliation and draws out hyper-pigmentation, bringing it to the surface, where it peels away revealing more radiant skin.
The timeline for the skin to start peeling depends on several factors, such as, the type of skin you have (oily, dry), the condition of your skin, your skin care routine, how often you exfoliate, and how often you get facials.
Unseasoned skin (minimal skin care) may see results sooner than seasoned skin (those with a fully established skin care routine, regular exfoliation and/or facial treatment history). Typically, you can expect to peel 2-4 days after the procedure and complete the cycle within 7-10 days. This treatment pairs well with the Microderm Facial above, which would be done two weeks after the Anti-Aging Peel for maximum benefit. As with the IPL Photo Rejuvenation, it is recommended that you stay out of the sun following the treatment.
The special prices for these treatments are available only until January 31, 2016. If you have any questions about any of these treatments, or need help deciding which one is right for you, please call us. We are your partners in skincare and are always available!
